Signing Lighting & Guarding on Roads
Training Aim:
The aim of this programme is to provide the participant with knowledge and skills and attitudes necessary to carry out roadworks. The Signing, Lighting and Guarding training programme is designed to meet the training and certification needs of Local Authority, Public Utilities and Private Sector contractors and other persons involved on works on public roads.
Programme Objectives:
On completion of the training programme trainees will be able to,
Evaluate. Plan and install a safe system of signing, lighting and guarding at roadworks in accordance with the requirements of National guidelines.

- Roadworks Classifications
- Traffic Management Devices
- Traffic Management Layouts
- Safe Systems of Installation
- Traffic Management Applications
- Motorways/Dual Carriageways
Trainees must be 18 years of age
Have completed Safe Pass Programme
Have Basic Literacy and Numerical skills
Good Communication Skills
Preferable if trainee has previous experience in construction industry
Who Should Attend
Managers, supervisors and operatives who are required to plan, organise, direct and manage any roadworks.
Course Content
Day 1:
- Introduction to Traffic Management,
- Roadwork's Classifications,
- Traffic Management Devices,
- Traffic Management Layouts,
- Traffic Management Applications.
Day 2:
- Multiple Choice Exam,
- Motorways/ Dual Carriageways,
- Classroom Practical,
- Safe Systems of Installation,
- Site Practical.
Day 3:
- Site Practical Exam,
- Classroom Practical Exam.
Course / Certificate Validation
Successful course participants will receive a FÁS CSCS card for Signing, Lighting and Guarding on Roads,
and a FETAC Level 5 Certificate also.

Requirements:
Participants must bring a passport photo, current safe pass card and personal protective equipment.
Participants must be aged 18 years or over.
